Wow, i cant believe it, in 2142 i got a poor score of 5000 and im about to get a Sgt major of the army and in bf2 i almost got 10,000 and im just a gunny, and i belive that school will never let me go thru this

Discuss, im sure some you feel the same thing.

2142 has more ranks that are easy to get because there are more unlocks.  Soon everyone will be a Brigadier General...  I like the ranks in BF2 because the higher ranks at least show people took time to get there.  I say no.

If they made a patch that lowered the rank req time and same with the awards I got I would quit cause I put time into. Not for a patch to flush down the toilet.


Mafia I dont think you would know how the game use to be with ranks/awards req.

No, the ranks in BF2 show the time and commitment you have put in. Im a lieutenant colonel silver in BF2142 already and only 1st Sgt in BF2.

How long have you been playing the game?  I'm going to assume you picked it up after the patch that reduced the requirements.  Back then It took 10,000 points to get from Lance Corporal to Corporal, and seeing a Gunnery Sergeant ingame was legendary.

BF2 ranks are fine, why do you need to get to the next rank?

If you don't put the time and effort in to the game, not to mention skill, then what reason is there to reward you for doing nothing?

Sure, it's a fairly big gap... But stop complaining. I went through it. Now I have less than 2K more points and I'll be a Captain. This in around 600 hours.

EDIT: And yeah, it was a HUGE gap between the low ranks way back then. I was a Cpl. when is was an accomplishment. And if I remember correctly, Sgt. was 25,000 points. I was almost there when the patch came out. Boosting me up to around... Staff or gunnery.

i got 40,000isn and a Colonel Gold, and in BF2 i am a First Sergen with about 40,000. I honestly like how in 2142 that the awards give carrer points and how it is less points to rank up cause i have been at the First Sergent rank since july, 2142 still is nowhere near as good a BF2

well I remember how the ranks were before :

PFC 500
Lance Corporal  1000
Corporal 10 500
Sergeant 25 000
Staff Sergeant 50 000
Gunnery Sergeant 75 000
Master Sergeant/First Sergeant 150 000
Master Gunnery sergeant/Sergeant major 250 000

now you talk about real ranks. Personally I think this was the best system. My goal wasnt to reach the higher ranks, imo ranks in bf2 are there for comparison, so you dont care if ranks are harder to get, its the same thing for everyone. Ill never get to 4 star general in bf2, and I dont care, but I care to get a rank good among the community.

Now (well since patch 1,03 which was released fall 2005) ranks are too easy to earn (bf2) and its not realistic. When you look at the scoreboard and there are more seniors than normal soldiers, there is problem.

Oh and about the ranks of 2142, thats a total joke....

i don't care to much about the higher ranks, i don't like bieng stuck at one for 10 years, in 2142 i did like being a captian about 3 weeks after i got it (coolest symbol)

They need some more ranks in 2142 or to increase the time between them cos this is ridiculous, since i got reset a week ago I'm now a Lt col. Silver, 10 rank off Brig. Gen.

I mean.. A week?!?! It would take you at least 6 months to reach General in BF2...

i think its good, with like 1500 hours or so for the highest rank, depending on play speed.

and maybe they need to ad more unlocks, and higher ranks. or a better idea, have special unlocks for things other than total points, but for skill with a weapon, or something like that.

i think it would be cool to unlock a super sniper for having enough sniper kills for example.
