Ok, I need to buy a new microphone for my new computer. I was wondering which type is better - a headset, or a desk microphone?

Are there any decent ones out there? I hear logitech is quite good. But what do I look for when looking for a microphone???

Headset, logitech is pretty good, but if you want a really nice headset I would go with the Icemat Siberia headset.

Get a headset.

If you use a desk mic and have your game sound coming out of your speakers the mic will pick that up too.
Also if you have your 'generic voip software' (ie teamspeak) coming out of your speakers the mic will pick up that too....so people you are talking to will hear themselves with an annoying echo.

Hell yes. I have the Icemat Siberia Headset and can say it's very nice. My mic isn't attached, though, it's a clip-on mic.

Maybe there's a totally different model with that attached mic. I keep on tripping over the clip-on cord and it ends up smashing against the ground. I cringe every time that happens.

sure just open up photshop and put one on. The siberias dont come w/ a mic attached....

i dont use headset cuz i have 300$ speakers + soundcard. SO i ahve a mounted mic. Cost me 8$. i bought it 7 years ago and people can still here from my kitchen if i have OUtput at max. (2 rooms away.)
