And im goign to buy 1gb of ram soon how do i find out which type of ram version i need to buy so it works with my computer?

If it is older then 1 year it's AGP most likely.

Little more info would help.

DId you build it, buy it, name brand etc.

yea its a few years old , my dads friend bulit it so i dont have a brand. i downloaded that program which section do i look in because i cant find where it says which slot it uses. just want to make sure i dont buy the wrong type of card.

Never used the program, IM him.

If it is a few years old it is an AGP card.

You can also pull the side of the case off, in the middle of the motherboard there will be writing with the name of the mobo (Manufacture) and board model.


Then just google it to get the specs.  I would bet AGP though.

Yea is probaly agp because its a few years old only has 256mb of ram so im going to buy 1gb more and upgrade graphics card but im not sure if i would have problems with the cpu cause its a amd athlon 2000+ or somthing im not sure?

Make sure the RAM is the same name/brand/speed as your current (If your going to use both).

You will not have a problem running any AGP card with that chipset.  The new series cards need a lot of PSU (Cpu doesn't hurt), however I think they are all PCI-E.

1 Gig of RAM and a 7000 series Nvidia card and you will be a happy camper.

Do a search threw this section and you will find hundreds of topics on cards and such.
