How about you read properly next time?  Just tell them you want to switch back.

Did you just order the upgrade today, or was it scheduled to be upgraded today? Because very rarely(if ever) can a switch be made the same day. It's normally 3-5 days before the upgrade is actually done.

speed of the internet connection is measured in bits not bytes.

example my internet is measured at 3 megabits/s downstream, 768 kilobits/s upstream

If you have a 2.5mb connection it does not mean your download speed will be 2.5mb per second.  I only have a 1 meg connection and my download speed is about 120kb/s.  Its completely normal.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

All modem data transfer has always been measured in bits, not bytes. Your lack of knowledge and understanding does not mean they have ripped you off, it means you were expecting something you were never promised.

Unless you have a cooling off period (which is doubtful as you are not a new customer) then you may be stuck with whatever contract you have signed up for.

aye sorry, its not their fault.. you got exactly what they said youd get, its the same w/ cable too... its the same w/ any internet service provider.  ur lucky u got exactly 312 kb too.. usually its under that.

but yea dsl does suck anyway... it just cant compete w/ cable anymore... at least not in my area.  and if ur really lucky... and fios is available in your area... get it... 5 ping is <3

oh and 8 bits = 1 byte.... so 8000 kbps (kilobit per second) is = 1 megabyte(1000 kilobytes) per second.
