I know this is prolly not the best place to post it, but I know most of you are real good at this kinda stuff.

So I figured out today my computer has a firewire port. So hey, being in a media class, i thought it a good idea to take the camera home, film some stuff for an upcoming project, and edit it at home right? Wrong. For some reason my Adobe Premiere Elements refuses to acknowledge the existence of this port. I cannot find it on my computer either. I know it is hooked up, because the usb port, which is part of the same piece of hardware, works just fine.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Where would I be looking? I mean on my computer it doesn't even show up. I know its there, and its the right firewire, cause i can plug in my 6pin to 4pin FW easily. I just dont understand why its not registering.

I had the exact same problem on my last computer.

The fact of the matter is, only one of the two can be connected at any one time, because firewire actually uses USB jumpers on the mobo. So, open up your rig, and you should see a footloose wire that's connected to your front panel, or wherever the USB/FW thing is. So, look up your mobo manual and switch the two around, it just means you won't be able to use USB and FW unless you have another USB jumper config.

~I think that's the problem, lemme know when you slice open your case
