Earlier this year, the drinking age was 18, and some tard tried to pass a law raising it to 25; they of course failed.
I think it got unanimously voted against. Whoever motioned for it must have had some sort of mental disorder which makes them do downright idiotic things.
One thing, for those who aren't exactly knowledgable about Thailand. The drinking age only exists in books. Kids buy hard spirits at 7-Eleven when they're 10. I've seen countless drunk 15-16 year olds hobbling on the streets. The police in Thailand, I dare say, are among the top most corrupt organizations in the world (pointless roadblocks/nonsensical turning restrictions/public disturbance excuses for getting bribes, but thats another story for another day). Either way, no one is around to enforce the drinking age laws, so there's really no point to it. But raising it to 25 will just give them another excuse to hit you with a baton and get five or ten bucks from your wallet.
But then this... 'mental disordered' person did it again; And it got considered.
So, instead, they raise it to 20 from 18. 20 was previously the age to get into most of the higher-end bars and clubs. The excuse was basically to match the clubs; so when you're old enough to hit RCA and Kao San, you're old enough to start, oh I dunno, 'experimenting' with alcohol (oh noes).
Like I said earlier, it doesn't make that much of a difference.
Now, he's trying again; to raise it from 20 to 25. When will he stop?
