Just to point out that depending on your motherboard and Processor your fps will vary, even if you are using a 6600GT, i have a 6600 and get around 70

Oh aswell as Ram

this is true. as when i had my 6600gt PCIe 128mb, i would get 40-50 FPS on all high with AA @ 2x and texture filtering @ medium in bf2. amazing what awesome ram/mobo can do (my processor sucks..still haven't upgraded).

Well I just checked mine and it goes between 99.9 & mid 50s(with arty and shooting)

I have a 7900GT OC
Core duo 3.4Ghz
2 gig ram

So if you "only" get 50, who really cares as long as you can play.

EDIT:  forgot to say, 1280x1024 all on high, 4X AA

When I'm not moving or doing anything, it gets stuck at 99.9, I know it wants to go more though.

I get about 60-80 every other time though.

I get around 50 with my Radeon 9600, with Medium settings except for Textures on high, no AA, 1024x768 @ 60Hz.  Doesn't come close to the 8800, lol.

Type this in the game (exactly)

~game.lockfps 500    then press enter and hit ~ to close the console.

Every time you go into a new server unfortunately.

You'll find that having your FPS unlocked that high will actually cause you to lag. Why? Because it changes dramatically a lot.

For instance, you get 400FPS looking at few textures. Normally, like 330 - 350FPS. Go into battle, you get probably 250 or so, and with real intense action with lots of stuff going on, probably down in the low 200's (all just a guess).

So your FPS is fluctuating a lot. If you locked it at like 150 or so, it would pretty much stay there all the time. You wouldn't lag a bit.

Haha, screw you guys. I have a P4 3.6GHz, 1GB ram, and a 7600GT, and I'm hovering near 20 FPS.

Is that normal for a 7600GT?

Just what benefits do you get from having such a high fps rate?

Well then, it appears I have a problem.

You dont, read every word of the opening post.

It will help to give you an idea of what to expect to when the more GPU intensive games are released next year though.

The idea is correct however the human eye can not discern the difference in 150 frames and 300 frames. So even if it does drop you would not be visually affected. To some extent at least. There is a difference between smooth motion frame rates though. The explanation gets tricky from here out so let me refer you here..lol

I'm adding a Core 2 to my list Christmas list.

That's the best you can get (for all round computer, reasonably priced), right?
