(Analogous to how the spawn beacon works, perhaps a radio, or flare that will allow squad members to parachute in as opposed to just respawning.)
Just to nitpick/add accuracy: The US "light" machine gun of the Browning .30 was the M1919A6.
mortor for support, lawl
i liked BFV. it was a poorly made game but i still enjoyed it, probably did more than i do BF2. especially the Huey Gunshipszimmer92 wrote:

I suppose I am just a BF2 kinda guy.
Yeah if EA/Dice had put some more effort into it, it'd be a much more popular game. It's really fun, especially when performing Insertions of troops into hot LZ's while blaring one of the ingame, licensed songs...

-US medic should have an M1 carbine. I would make the Thompson the unlock for the medic.
-M1 garand is a good for the assault with the BAR and Thompson as unlocks
-US Engineer should have an M3 grease gun. The M1 Carbine should be the unlock
-US Support should start with a BAR. M1919 as the unlock.
The same basic idea with the other countries. GB, Soviet Union, Germany, Japan, and Italy all used bolt action rifles as their primary infantry weapon. The US being the exception with the semi-auto Garand, althought Marines did carry M1903A3's early on in the Pacific. Submachine guns should and assault rifles should be unlocks.
Medics should not be overpowered killing machines as they are in BF2. They should carry a smaller, medium range rifle, with SMG's as unlocks.
engineers should have short range SMG's, i.e. M3 grease gun, MP38, Stens, PPSh. unlock would be medium range, semi-auto rifles.
The US squad level machine gun was the BAR, machine guns were assigned at the company level, M1919 would be a good unlock. The Germans placed more value on machine guns, placing them as the heart of most platoons, with assualt troops protecting the MG emplacement. The MG42 is far too powerful for a single person to carry, think PKM on sterroids. uless you nerfed it, then what's the point? MG34 would be a more moderate choice, comprable to the M1919. MG42 could possibly be an unlock.

The problem with WWII is that none of the weapons are balanced. Examples:
Automatic light rifles:
US: M2 Carbine.
Germany: StG-44/MP-44/MP-43.
USSR: AVS-36.
But the UK and Japan have no comparable weapon. The UK could use the M2 Carbine, but Japan still would not have a similar weapon. Even the AVS-36 is the stretch.
Magazine-fed light machine guns:
US: M1918A1/A2 BAR.
UK: Bren Mk.2.
USSR: DP.
Japan: Type 96/Type 99.
Again, a country (Germany) does not have a comparable weapon.
Semi-automatic rifles:
US: M1 Garand.
USSR: SVT-38/SVT-40.
Germany: G43/K43.
Again, neither the UK or Japan has a comparable semi-auto, unless the BF1942 Type 5 was real. Even then the UK would have to use the Garand.
Tank balance was even worse. Tiger I > M4A3 Sherman > Type 97 Chi-Ha.

Add a spitfire to the vehicles list and you have me.
I had forgotten about this thread until I received some karma for it...And of course that'd be in there. It's WW2.Towelly wrote:

germans used the MG42 deployed or from the hip. granted the recoil was insane, but in CQC the 42 dominated.Reciprocity wrote:

For that, wouldn't you have to used the tweaked BF2 engine, the one they are using for 2142?Spearhead wrote:

Why don't you make it a Tommy gun?PspRpg-7 wrote:

I agree whole-heartedly with this, but the thing is that I doubt it's going to go into full production by DICE / EA. I was thinking more of a mod for BF2...
but that involves planning and petitions, and who wants to do that
I'm going to teach myself how to model.. so maybe we can do this thing.
