Why are they charging use $50+ for laughing taunts?

I recall a time where players wanted some taunts in BF2. There were threads about it on a few forums I had visited a while back. It looks like Dice heard us but there is a catch. You need to buy BF2142 first in order to activate the taunt. I say "activate" because the taunts is already in your HD. I believe it was introduced in patch 1.30 (not sure). However, you already have those taunts files in your BF2 directory. You just can not activate them yet. This is why you hear them but cannot use them. In order to use them you have to spot a dead enemy and you hear 1 of the 3 laughing taunts. The taunts are found in the zip file common_client.zip
Common_client.zip\Sound 1

So my question is, since they are already in our BF2 directory how do you activate it?

This thread doesn't make sense. Why would a taunt be important to gameplay? I haven't heard this alleged new taunt and I honestly don't care if I do or do not hear it. It has no bearing on the game so who cares if you have it or not.

Just answer his damn question. is there a way to activate the taunt without buying the game? why is everything so hard in these forums.all you do is just answer the guys question....simple.

yes it does, you just can't hear it your self and there's some limits how many time it can be used per game so it almost never works

I think it's like an urban myth, I've never heard it & I have a decent sound card so that can't be why. I'd like to see some explanation by EA of what it is.how to use it.

the sound files do exist. look on your bf2 folder \mods\bf2\ open the common_client.zip look in the sound folder. there are three taunt.ogg files. but nobody seems to use them or really know how to trigger them...

Ive also heard it a couple times randomly.....its actually kind of creepy. I was playing, and my guy does this laugh and Im kinda like "wtf was that?". The voice didnt sound like any voices in the game at all. Ive only heard it like once or twice.

so do you have to be a registered 2142 player to use them? how do you use them? can the .con be modified, so people who don´t play 2142 can use them too?
