Ok, this is funny because I actually thought I was gonna be able to spend all of my $4,000 on a new computer, it's sad because I just had to spend $1,500 to bail my ex-girlfriend out of jail (really sad because I haven't talked to her in 2 years & probably won't again) but seriously I need help now on how to spend my $2,500.
If you could spend $2,500 (a little less if possible) on a new computer what would you get?

I really like Alienware stuffs cause the case's are so pretty but whatever. It's my yearly time to buy something for myself so what should I get?

Wow, haven't talked to her in two years but you'll still bail her out? Sounds like she just screwed you again!

I'd recommend going DIY, otherwise if you go Dell or AW, you'd be getting screwed on the price.

dells are useless pieces of rubbish
personally i'd use a fujitsu computer one of the scaleo range
i have a standard scaleo 600 it cost £400 and its met all recommended requirements (for games) for about a year and a half now, so $2,500 will probably get you a very good one.

US$2.5k? That should get you a good OEM set, it's quite a good sum for a gaming PC IMHO. A coolermaster centurion + 7900gtx or 8800gts + 2GB RAM + a medium good processor (6300) should be less than 2.5k. the key is having enough RAM, a good CPU and a great video card. a 'smallish' 160GB or 250GB HDD should suffice and a 17" is not really expensive. Alienware and Dell XPS cases are great looking but when it comes to the crunch, those cases aren't going to translate into high frame rates and gorgeous graphics.

there's been some folks asking the same questions recently, do a search in this section and you'll be surprised to find that your budget can get you pretty far.
