I havent been on a server where im able to talk using mic for months? I press B the sound icon doesnt come up.... nothing happens?. No one else talks either. Whats going on? I havent heard people speaking on it for months

In order to use your mic on a bf2 server, it must have VOIP enabled. You can tell whether it has this on the server list, there will be a little icon that looks like a pair of earphones or something like that to the left of the server name.
i was on a mic server yesterday, but when i try to fix mic settings, it says there was an error
Yes, it does have that there..... looking at sound settings now and the mic isnt selected. So I selected it now and will try. But ... still.... i am yet to hear people speak on it for months. Do alot of people not use it?
Maybe a lot of people use Teamspeak instead, its a lot better than the VOIP in bf2 or 2142. Maybe you could find out if your server has a ts server.

Ok, I now know the mic is not being picked up in bf2. I start the microhpone test.... it doesnt detect any sound. Using Eyetoy USB Camera here
Is there any software you need to install for the mic to work?
Is your soundcard working properly? You might need to reinstall the drivers, I have had mic problems in the past and this usually fixed it for a while at least.

Works fine in windows..... Works fine in VOIPsetup.exe too. BF2 mic test doesnt detect sound though
Mic test doesn't work for me either, but it still works in bf2. Just on some servers it doesn't seem to work even if there's voip enabledRambo35 wrote:

EDIT: You can also try to change the hardware acceleration from dxdiag
Go to start > run > write dxdiag > sounds > move the slider all the way to the left

I am having the same problem as Rambo. My mic no longer works within BF2. Not within a known mic server and the mic threshold test does not register any sound either. At first I thought it was either my headset or PC, but both are for sure OK. It is BF2 thing only.
I even downloaded the Full 1.41 patch and resintalled it over what I had, but no cigar. What gives? Do I need to uninstall everything and start fresh?

It is a new bug in the game.
VOIP, even though it is enabled on the server, does not work. I have been in many servers now, where VOIP is not working, and all the chat is, is "is voip not working??" and "can you fuckers hear me now??" (Yet I know for a fact that it is enabled, as all Internode and GameArena servers have VOIP)
