Rainbow Six Vegas Reviews/Tips?

I'm downloading Rainbow Six Vegas right now from D2D & at 550kb/sec it's gonna take a little while (bout 2 hours says firefox) so I figured I'd come here & ask those that have played it already what they think about it, if they have any tips about faster performance, easier gameplay etc. Anything I should look for, anything I shouldn't do, was it worth the money (or would it be worth the money if you got it P2P). Really any info at all would be appreciated.

*Edit:* And what's up with a release patch like BF2 & 2142? Can't anybody make sure the game works before they ship it anymore?

The game is nice, tho it has several bugs and graphic errors. The single player mode is quite interesting i went through it in two days. Didn't tried the Internet Multiplayermode and imho its not worth the money.

IGN Review

IGN Conclusion: Rainbow Six: Vegas isn't for the original RB6 faithful that need realism with their shooting. But it is for fans of fast action that like intense firefights. Most PC fans would have rather seen this game in a new franchise, this style of play is likely here to stay. The good news out of it is that while it's not the same tactical gameplay that we know and love, Vegas is a lot of fun when taken as an action shooter. It's not perfect, but level design and consistent amounts of engagements keep the game moving at an pretty damn entertaining click. The new cover and control systems work well and the single player experience as a whole is a lot of fun.

That is if you can get the game to run well. It's a serious system hog and those with older (and even middle-range) systems may have a hell of a time making the game run well and look smooth. Sadly multiplayer has been a big problem for us at this point. While we've found games and finished matches, we haven't left any server of our own accord and haven't managed to get through more than two matches in a row without dropping out.

If they can get the game patched up it could be a great experience regardless of its departure from the original PC formula. Until then, it's a good and exciting game with some noticeable problems.

GameSpot Conclusion: While Rainbow Six Vegas bears little resemblance to its illustrious PC progenitor, that's no reason to write off this engrossing action game. Rainbow Six Vegas is a highly tactical and dynamic first-person action game that fans of realistic shooters should definitely check out.

naw tbh i have it unless u have a really high end comp its not worth it..

Ya it's ghey, won't let me play it because my graphics card isn't special enough for it, god damned racist game! My new Alienware is coming at the end of this month or beginning of next so i guess I'll just have to wait & hope my 8800 GTX is special enough...bastards!

Fenris you will get many +1's from me, I seriously spilled my coffee all over my desk when I saw that stuff

Correct me if im wrong but he isn't pirating it? D2D - Direct 2 Drive is a service for downloading games legally?......

TBH, i have no clue. i auto-assume that if you're downloading a game it's being pirated.

I "obtained" it but the methods of running it don't seem to be working so I'm waiting on a fixed .exe, which thinking about it should be done by now so I'm going hunting.

Ya Direct2Drive is legit: http://www.direct2drive.com/ but that Limewire thing was just way too fuckin funny.
I have a bad feeling about the game since a patch was released like 2 days after the game was but the graphics really do look badass (better be if I have to wait 2 weeks to see them). I guess I'll just have to play lots of BF2 til I get my new machine.

well, i like it except for the insane ammount of crashing and the horrendous system lag it told me my 3500+ sucks lol, oh well... it looks ok on the lower settings anyway

your gonna need a good pc to run it. i "bought" it yesterday and tried to run it on my lappy. great graphics, but i wish i would have more than 4 frames per second. i'll have to try running it on my desktop when i go home for xmas on friday
