Overclocking help

So I am overclocking my graphics card because it sucks and I can't wait until christmas to play a new game I got. And if my card dies, christmas is only a week or so away so no big deal.

1 - Right now I have my case opened and have two 20 inch fans pointed right at my card on full speed so my temperatures should be OK I think. Will pointing 2 house fans at it actually do anything?

2 - I overclocked my Radeon x300 from 324 core / 196 mem to 372 / 216. Now just in case if it acts funky, I have a hotkey set to drop it to 120 / 120. Can that cause any damage from going fully overclocked to severely underclocked?

Nah seriously though, should be fine to run at those increased speed's, and I doubt much harm will be caused by all of a suden underclock. As you say 'christmas is only a week or so away so no big deal'.

I take it you are getting a new card/comp?

I don't think it's worth overclocking an x300. The card is so old and low-end it won't make a difference at all besides killing it faster.

i got a 5 fps boost from oc'ing my 9550
stock core - 250
stock mem. - 200

oc'd it to - 260 core and 205 mem.

I still sit at 25 fps though, so i'm planning on pushing it till it dies, since i'll most likely pick up a 7600GS or something with extra christmas money.
