Well my current computer is starting to get old i mean really old and I need a quick replacement for under $700 AU. This leaves me with little to do but take note. I already have a Monitor a HDD and a PSU 350W (dont know if i need to upgrade this and a case). Which id be happy to keep i also have a few extra fan's around the house if i need some better cooling. I am aware of DX10 etc coming out but I am afraid I wont be able to get a DX10 card until later i'll just replace my current.

That is what I plan to get I think there might be some compatability problems with the ram and the mobo if someone could check this out. Using this system as a base system is it possible to get more bang for buck I took AMD cause they are cheap and 64 bit id prefer the 64 3800+ (i think) but if i have to sacrifice it I will. Id also prefer to stay with 1 gig or so of ram at least.

This is what I used to create my PC id prefer this to be used since its Australian meaning ordering wont be a big bill and I can possibly pick up. +1 to anyone that can help in building a better system. Thanks guys. Remember under $700 AU.

Go for an intel E6300 or 6400.

And yes, please post a link to all of your items.

Ack photobucket resized it ill try upload it to another site.

Link* http://radio.bradmilo.net/Igor/viewtopi … 0345#10345 I'd prefer an AMD/ATI machine but if a Intel/ATI machine is more bang for buck i'd be happy to go for it. Still note im restricted to $700 AU dollars and I cant go over that. It just seems that an intel cpu and motherboard is a bit pricy.

I'm looking into getting a new videocard for my box (running a 9600 right now ). I'm looking to spend ~ $150 US dollars on it, so the same your paying for your card. So I'm curious to see what people have to say about your video card selection.

I was going to buy a x1600 pro for $130 US at best buy, but I checked out the benchmarks on http://www.tomshardware.com/ and was not impressed. If you look into the NVIDIA cards right now, you can get a 7600 GS or a 6800 GT for about the same price and they preform much better than the x1600 pro. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi … ategory=48 . Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I don't know a whole lot about video cards but I've been looking into them lately and this is what I've seen.

What a coincidence? I run a 9600XT and would like a X1600 pro amazing.

There's compatability issues between the motherboard and the processor.  If you're getting an AM2 processor, you need an AM2 motherboard - different connections.  If you're determined to go down the AMD route, if you're on a very tight budget then this is probably wise, then socket 939 is outdated technology already and AM2 is the right way to go, if you can afford it.

So you think the thermaltake PSU will work in my standard sized case? If not I can get a 500W PSU for $130

I find this a very good price for a computer this should be the ending build tell me what you guys think. Total price ~$800

Mobo: http://www.nintek.com.au/x/scripts/prod … oduct=8416
Processor: http://www.nintek.com.au/x/scripts/prod … oduct=6759
Optical Drive: http://www.nintek.com.au/x/scripts/prod … oduct=5424
PSU: http://www.nintek.com.au/x/scripts/prod … oduct=6049
RAM: http://www.nintek.com.au/x/scripts/prod … oduct=3354
GFX: http://www.nintek.com.au/x/scripts/prod … oduct=5153
HDD: http://www.superwarehouse.com/Maxtor_Di … /ps/193138

Using old Floppy (no biggy) Monitor, Keyboard/Mouse in a standard sized case. From my not so proffesional viewing everything seems fine but i'll leave it up to those who know more then me.

Does anyone think this is good bang for buck? I do but I will leave it to you.

np, I just did a search for 7600 on their site.  You can also get it cheaper but I chose that cuz it's overclocked, unless you planned on overclocking it yourself.

Ok then thats everything accounted for I will be posting a final screeny of what im getting in the link I posted I just need to make sure the thermaltake PSU will fit into a standard case it seems like quite a bargain for a PSU and a fan 430W for only $55.

Ok I stretched my wallet as far is it could possibly go and am going to order a SATA II 7200rpm HDD with the rest of the stuff this is my last adjustment and I should be getting my order by new year. Great thing it is a guarenteed day/night delivery and since I live in the same city as where their factories are located I get free delivery Yahooo thanks everyone for the help.
