Is it necessary to unlock the 2nd upgrade to get to the 3rd upgrade for a specific kit, or does the 3rd become unlockable anyway at some point?

there are only 2 tiers of weapons
Tier 1 - BF2 standard weapons = G3 M95 and so on
Tier 2 - Special Forces weapons - F2000, MP7 and so on
You will need SF to get the Tier 2 Unlocks

Maybe he's speaking about the EuroForces gun's....if that what it is...NO YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO UNLOCK THEM...you can only have them playing with EU...just like PLA has their own weapons!!!
Sorry, I meant 2nd unlock. I do have SF. I'm wondering mainly about the sniper kit. Must I unlock the M95 before I'm able to unlock the L96A1, or will the L96A1 become available at a higher rank?

They have to go in order, u need the first unlock to get the second unlock.
