A good advise if you never played WoW whatever you do never try it, if you are very competietive with games it will suck up your time faster than you ever thought. I used to play it and could´nt be happier that i quit for 6 months ago or so.
Edit: There´s a lot of crap written in this thread if you have´nt seen both sides you should´nt come with useless remarks. And when i say "have´nt seen both sides" it does´nt qualify you if you "only" leveled a character to 60 in wow.

My girlfriend has friends who play Wow.
While at a tech store a few weeks ago, I saw a demo disk for Wow for like... 2$...
Grabbed it off the shelf and began to look at it. My girlfriend, not even taking her eyes off the game she was looking at, casually said.. "I'll leave you if you buy that... "

To be honest I think it is more time consuming and "Harder" to be great in WoW. In BF2 you choose what weapons you want and play, may the better man win. With WoW you have to get good gear and have to have the right spells and such. (If you play you know how long that can take).Marinejuana wrote:

I dont like it just cause its 15$ a month, or otherwise i would buy it, i play silkroad cause its free.
i dont care for wow, but i do want to understand the qualities it has that draws so many people. and i think it has to do with the fact that a person can grow its character so they become more attached to it. We have a small dosage of that in BF2.
Also, its counter intuitive. but i think by paying for the service people subconciously care for the game more BECAUSE they are paying for it.
I wouldnt ming putting up a few bucks a month to have like world wide BF2 competition monitored by EA or some of the producers of the game...... it would be good to be recognized for skill

To be fair i've never played WoW but it looks like another classic time eater/carrot dangler if you know what i mean... BF2 is the way forward.

I've played both. It's hard to compare the two types of games. Someone earlier mentioned apples vs oranges. That's an accurate statement. If you like FPSers then the BF series, CS, COD and others are your bread and butter. If you prefer RTS games then perhaps you should stick to EOW, Generals, etc.. If you are a MMORPG player then WoW floats your boat.
I play both, enjoy both, and still have a life. Playing games in moderation (all games) is the key to having a life.

Yeah,one of my best freinds does the same crap. He actually got me started playing bf1942. We would have mini-LANS and play bf all night. When we heard bf2 was coming out we were both very exited. Well, he started playin WOW right before the launch of bf2 and the rest is history. First of all both games have merit, the question is which one is more? Consider that I have been playing WoW for about 3 months now and barely touch BF2 at all anymore. For those of you that know how WoW works, the servers shutdown every tuesday morning. So come tuesday morning I was looking for something to do...
So I dust off the ol' joystick and pop in BF2. Bam i'm right back in the action. Got my rifle, gonna pwn some n00bs, gonna join up a squad that actually does stuff and have a great time! Right? Oh yea, I forgot that n00bs still TK for the jet, or that the J-10 still whoops on the american planes, or that most of the time people still don't know how to work as a team (don't even get me started on that commander hack BS either) ..So I get to thinking "I miss playing this game sometimes...but now that I recall the problems not so much anymore" I had hours of fun with BF2, I used to log on every night and play for hours. I wasn't amazing but I did alright for myself.
But i've always been a fan of blizzard games and playing WoW for free landed in my lap so I figure what do I got to lose right? And i've figured this out and I hope I'm not the only one.
IF YOU DON'T LIKE RPG THEN DON'T PLAY WOW. IF U NEED PRETTY COLORS AND ARE ADD THEN PLAY FPS.
There's also a reason why I haven't touched BF2 since I got WoW...because it pretty much pwns. You wanna cry about 15 bucks a month, hell for 15 bucks a month I get a game that works pretty damn well, can't say the same about BF2. Its a game where people don't dread the next patch, but where things actually get better with patches. Hell for 15 bucks a month (or about .50 cents a day) I get one of the most immersive, intricate, and indepth games on the market today. Theres a reason why 7 million + people play it. You might spend that 15 bucks on movies, or alcohol, or whatever, but for my 15 I get access to a damn good game.
I hear people saying how the ranking system is sorta the same. The difference is that in WoW when I lvl up I get better, not just a higher spot on the command role. Anyone who plays MMO knows you can't gauge the entire game with 15 hours of gameplay. The game is very different once you hit the lvl cap. What happens when you reach the rank cap on BF2? nothing much really. I can kill 50,000 enemies in BF, but when happens when I reach it. I get a shiney medal and thats about it, no skill ups or nothing.
Now to be clear i'm not saying one is better than the other, I just wanted to make two points.
1) if you don't know what the hell your talking about, STFU

I had a friend who had more than 130 days logged on the game..( in about a years time played ) i had way to many myself, you can clearly see that people change after playing that instens they ain´t the same person the day they decide to quit.
WoW is nothing compared to BF2 IMO. I really don't like ANY MMORPGs.
