Planning to build a new rig this weekend, may last till part of next week depending on part avaliability.

CPU:
E6600
*getting this for sure.

can't decide on mobo, any suggestions/opinions for which will do me better with a particular card?
ASUS (P5W DH DELUXE) $289.95

or

ASUS (P5B-VM)(INTEL G965)  $179.95

What also plays a role in my mobo selection is the video card(s). I've been thinking either 7600GT, then going dx10 later this year, or go up to the 7950GT OC
BFG GEFORCE 7950 GT OC 512MB $389.95
7600GT KO $214.95

Price difference is fairly big, but i'm wondering will performance difference be that big? See, if I go with the sli mobo, i'll probably throw in a second card this summer (especially if I go with the 7600)

HD:
WD Raptor (74gb)

Memory:
probably gonna go with this cause of my budget. PC2-6400 1gb GOLD GAMER EXTREME / XTC EDITION / DDR2 (800MHZ) I'll get a second gig stick once I get part time job.

Rest will be decided by my dad.

My dad's basically in charge of getting the power supply, told him a minimum of 600w and by a known brand.

you're getting ripped off, a 7600GT should not cost $215. My 7900GS only cost $189 + the $20 Mail in Rebate & the new Hitman.

I suggest waiting for a DX10 Card until Vista launches.

exactly, why don't people bother to look at the "From: ......." under the name.

If you're intent on getting an 10,000rpm HD, I would suggest the 150Gb raptor, unless you're planning on running a bare bones system, those 74Gbs will disappear fast.  I just installed the new Splinter Cell game, 10Gb all by itself.  The WD cavier series are excellent,7200rpm, 16mb buffer, very inexpensive, compared to the raptors.

you may want to consider the 8800gts,  faster than any stock 7 series, and DX10 ready, you could put off the next gen upgrade for a while, as you'd already have it. US price is ~$400, don't know if that's in your budget.  otherwise, I'd save your money for the upgrade.  choose the best compromise between performance and cost.  I would guess that low end DX10 cards will be in the neighborhood of $300USD by the time DX10 is mainstream.

Be sure your memory voltage is compatible with your mobo.

I would highly recommend an X-Fi, onboard sound sucks ass compared to this little beast.
