Something I noticed last night whilst setting up BF2 on my computer since it recieved a supported graphics card, created a new windows account, installed and then I played BF2 online a bit with no problems, obviously I installed 1.12 otherwise I wouldn't have been playing online. I then installed SF, loaded up a match on devils perch, forgetting to reinstall version 1.12. The map loaded the same speed at which normal BF2 maps would load, except when Join Game appeared the game went back to the GUI saying that my version of BF2 was incorrect.

So, I installed 1.12, and joined the same server. This time, the game spent more than twice as long loading than it did previously.

I uninstalled the game completely, and then reinstalled to the exact same location, but did not put the 1.12 patch on until SF had been installed. This time, the map loaded seamlessly as it did previously without the 1.12 patch.

Thoughts?

erm... 'thoughts'... erm.. ok, here's one. EA UK have said there were patching problems, even sent me an email to explain some of them and a reminder not to 'patch up'... using 1.03.

It looks from where I'm standing that although you uninstalled SF, you didn't remove the 1.12 patch, but then reapplied the 1.12 which is the correct procedure... geez, I have a headache now

i bet the new patch improves grapics engine but the human eye can not tell the difference, thus rendering it useless
