So I got my shiny new Master Gunnery Promotion, the god of all Enlisted ranks. I go for a round of Mashtuur on FULLCONTACTWAR. I decide to get my ground defense badge. So I get the badge, and then I'm greeted with this unpleasant surprise:

There was a reason I didn't get that badge in 50K points: I WANTED MASTER GUNNERY. I thought once you got the promotion, you had it until 2LT!! GAH I HATE YOU DICE

EDIT: Not to bash you or anything, but I generally consider master gunnies as noobs since they couldn't get a basic badge...

His stats haven't updated since he got his ground defense stuff. If the Sergeant Major sticks, it'll be cuz the other server hadn't uploaded your stats yet. Good luck keeping your lower rank, I guess.

It showed me as a Master Gunnery in there.

edit: I got Master Gunnery in a different server, ate dinner, came back, BFHQ said I was Master Gunnery. Went to FCW to get my Ground Defense, and I get this damn thing

You know something. This is like the second thread I have seen on this where someone got promoted to, for example, Master Sergeant because they were missing a badge. Then they go the badge later and all of a sudden, they got promoted to First Sergeant. Perhaps DICE changed the ability to get promoted once you get the badge you are missing?

Yeah, it would have, but it doesn't necessarily send that info to EA when the round ends. If you had waited a little longer, it would have updated EA, then you could have gotten your Ground Defense without losing that lower rank you want.

Hmm. But after I got Master Sergeant, I got my veteran knife (or was it pistol?) badge along with basic and didn't get to First Sergeant.

You wont rank up to Sergeant Major, dont worry, the server you were on didnt know that you had ranked up to Master Gunny so you got Sergeant Major, but Im pretty sure you will stay Master Gunny in your real stats page.

You are not suposed to get the higher rank once you got the needed badges if you got the lower one before. And I dont think Dice/EA modified the way it works
