Make sure the smaller ATX connection from the PSU is plugged into the mobo!
What about the connector from the power switch on the front of the case to the correct jumper pins on the motherboard? Check the manual for which pins to use.
right on man, double check each connector. double check mobo manual.misconfiguration wrote:

Dude if you have to ask "why won't my power supply turn on" then you should NOT be building yours or anyone elses computer. EVER!
Stay very, very far away from computers and go buy an Etch-A-Sketch

make sure u check if the outlet works.
Sure you got the switch turned on in the back?
Give us a more detailed list of your components because you might of got parts taht wont work together.
Take the computer apart. Start over.
And for God's sake, make sure EVERYTHING is plugged in. You don't want to have to return stuff only to realize that "Ohhhh! That had a plug!"
Because that would suck.
Make sure it's all plugged in, and everything is screwed in tightly/in the right place.

dont plug the mobo to the case, maybe you misspluged the power button or it is faulty.
Plug the essentials : Power supply to the mobo (24pins and +12 volts (4 pins)), power supply to the cards, power supply to the wall plug, cpu and its heatsink, memory and thats it.
READ CAREFULLY the mobo manual to see what pins correspond to the power button and make contact between them with a screwdriver. Dont touch the other pins that are not related to the power button. If the fan of your cpu doesnt start to rotate, your hardware has a problem, either the mobo or the power supply.

Make sure the front panel is hooked up to the mobo properly, as the power switch on the front panel connects to the mobo, so refer to your manual, easy.
You obviously have little experience at building pc's so it might be a simple problem like that.
Keep postin help for the guy lol, he needs it people!

My money is on having the on button connected to the mobo wrong, that or not connected at all
I'd still go with a new PSU though regardless of the problem.

What does this switch say is it on 110 or 220 ? If in the US it should ne on 110.Fenris_GreyClaw wrote:

Uh oh. It wasn't a red indented switch that said 110/220 was it?
What about jumpers and stuff? Smell the psu does it smell burnt?
I'd say it's PSU. The units that come included with cases are junk, with a few exceptions. You've either got a DOA unit or one with not enough juice to run everything. Keep in mind that the wattage rating isn't everything, you need to have good amperage too. A single 7900 is gonna need 26 amps on the 12v rail to run.
Figured it out.
It came with a 450, DOA and i got a 500w last night
boots perfect
System Temp at 100c gunna fix that
though microsoft left out the fricken SP2 CD

Fix that temp super quick, that's way too high!
Make sure that the 4 Pin ATX is connected to the mobo will not work w/o, also make sure you are using the right 20/24 pin connector on the mobo.
Congrats on getting through your first trouble shoot on a build.
Now get some fans in there to help lower temps.

I have 1 12cm fan in the back and one n the front and a 6cm on the lid, my heatsinks on and the 7900 has a heatsink aswell, your thinking another syetemfan somewhere?arson wrote:
