I keep getting this message: "You are having problems with your connection" when playing BF2. It only happens on one of my computers, and it has been occuring since patch 1.3. Any ideas of what's causing the problem? Or better yet, ideas on how to fix it...

Could very well be the connection if it's wireless but it happens to all of us sometimes, I think it's server problems but since I've never run a server I dunno for sure.

It happens on every game I play, on every server, every day. But it only happens on my computer. The other comp that has BF2 is totally unaffected. (Why don't i play on that, you ask? Well, it has a Radeon X600 and a 15" screen.)

BTW- both are wireless connections

Are you running any firewalls besides the XP one?  Also, turn off any Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam software.

Then go to http://www.dslreports.com and sign-up to run their tweak and speed tests.  You may have your RWIN (receive window) set to low for your connection, thus dropping packets.

Since this happens on every game and only on that one PC I suspect one of those suggestions will solve it.

If it doesn't then try Hijack This and run AV and Spyware tools in Safe mode.

Good Luck & Merry Christmas!

Are you sure you only have 2.5 mbits DL speed?  That's only 1/3 of a MB a second which is pretty slow.

My RWIN is 173010 so to me yours looks really low.  If you are unsure of your ISP's advertised speed try downloading DR.TCP from DSL-Reports and use 65535 for the RWIN and see what that does for you.  In the tweak test type 5000 for the advertised speed (5 mbit/s or ~600 KB/s - which is common broadband speeds) to get a good recommendation.

I almost never have connection problems in any game and when I do they are always server wide.

Take some time and run multiple speed tests with varying RWIN numbers.  Remember to reboot each time you change the settings.

Good Luck.
