As some of you may know, I am part of a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school in my city and were having a tournament coming up soon.
Only problem is, I am not of enough weight to participate...
I am currently at 149 lbs and the cutoff is 160.
HOWEVER, the division is set for 160-180 so technically.. If I'm at 160, I qualify but there will be people close to 180 so they have strength advantage.
My question is... how to gain good weight quickly? The tournament is on Nov. 28...
Any good supplements recommended?
I've been taking whey protein and amino acids in all my training thus far, my regiment (2-3 times a week):
3 sets of 50 declined pushups with 5 mins rest between (warm-up)
15 mins on treadmill with 8% incline
conditioning (dropping to mat on back, knees, arms, shoulders etc) for 10 mins
3 sets of 20 rep 15 lb standing flys (2 mins between)
15 mins on treadmill with 8% incline
general power exercises afterwards (varies)
Note that I don't do ANY weight training, I'm trying to focus on power rather than muscle. Should my regiment be changed to gain weight?
