In a squad or not, the lone wolf mentality makes the lone wolf still an uncontrolable soldier.

Squads a often made up for the teamleader time served. Those squads spell team with an I.

But i agree with you. Nothing bothers me more than uncontrolable soldiers or 'loose' squads.

I can't count the number of times a squad member does NOT listen to me, despite my better tactical knowledge, rushes into a battle, and not only gets his ass killed, but gives away my position, and the next tank shell that is fired hits me in the face because of it.  If you join a squad, be a contributing member, get in vehicles other squad members use, play as a team.  You might live longer and play better.

...Or, you can continue to be that lone wolf with 0 kills and 18 deaths.  It's your choice.

What makes you think that lonewolves have bad KDR's...usually it are the squads that are killed faster! Since they appear as a big blob on the commanders screen and the UAV Nobody is going to care about the lonely sniper that is campin them from a distance..but they do care about that big blob

I play in a squad as often as I can unless I go sniper. Makes no sense ordering me into a battle if I am defending a position or spotting the enemy.  Also, if you feel the need to create a squad dont lock it and be the only member so you can request uav and supplies. If you do this you need to be kicked from a server for being USELESS.

i can't stand those commanders that insist on giving me orders for the same place over and over and over again. its fucking obnoxious. and i usually end up calling the commander an asshole by the end of the round. and if i'm attacking someplace you want me to, don't change the order while i'm doing it, at least wait til i'm done. especially when i'm the only one there and you already have a ton of people going for a different flag.

back on topic. squads are best, and if my commander knows what he's doing, i do what he asks. with all the bonuses, i don't understand why there are people that don't.

even if you are in a sniper, its no excuse to not play as a squad. Many times, me and other squad mates have been running down a road, for someone to spot a sniper, we all take cover, and i edge out, and take the sniper out. when it comes to attacking a flag, squad leader hangs back, the others move in for the flag, and i take up a suitable covering position to a) warn them of inbound threats, and b) eliminate them if i can

Exactly, i am a pretty good player so i can stay alive + get kills fairly easily. I never drop a beacon, i let my squad spawn directly onto me. Gives me instant back up and i get a small shooty bang bang drone to tell me where people are

If people think that snipers do nothing good in a squad they are dead wrong.

They can quickly take out people that are lieing still and camping just waiting for your Squad to come.
You also have the chance to draw out those medics to and your squad can finnish them off pretty quick. Plus they are able to give you quite a lot of information to the squad if you use the chat thingy.

Also I only put beacon on the enemy Titan unless we are in Conquest mode but then I only put it in areas where I can quickly enter the battlefield from another way. Otherwise I just pick silos or flag till the round is over.

But yea people should join Squads and lately I spend some time to invite players. Because it's just a waste when they ain't in one.

I'm also anoyed that the command only give ME orders to attack a certain point but EACH time he tells me to attack the silo/flag I'm attacking. I instantly refuse the order, well I do it all the time anyway and put out my own orders.
The commander either give you order to attack the flag you are attacking OR they don't give orders at all. God they are all noobs plus most commanders think that spending time in a Tank/Gunship/Walker or being in combat overall will bring in more points than ordering people around.

Staying alive > SLSB.

Squad leader = if an enemy's near, the SL dies and must respawn at a flag.
Beacon = if an enemy's near, everyone who spawns there dies because it's getting camped, and everyone who doesn't must respawn at a flag anyway.

How do people still get lost when we have 2 obvious sections. Dude this is Battlefield 2142.

They should completely move around the BF2 and BF2142 section so that they can't possible go into wrong part.

Also in some maps it's anoying to get your Beacon if you placed it in a place and no one destroy it.

I havent played 2142 but in BF2 that looseness allows me to go on high KDR kill streaks. I love working in a squad but its also nice to play the lone flanker or just run in gun down a few and die guy.

Okay, so I've seen a few valid reasons why snipers are good for squad-play; still takes a lot of dedication though, to get everyone to do what they're supposed to.  Best case, your recon soldier is leading the way with the lambert+camo, going dark when it looks like there's action up ahead; it is then his job to spot enemies, and NOT draw attention until the time is right and your squad has caught up.  Or, in the case of long-range assaults, have him hang back with the sniper rifle to cover the rear, and rush forward if there's a couple of support whores or comparable threats ahead, who are easy targets most of the time.  If he's doing his job, the squad will have a much easier time with him covering their back.
