I'm putting together another system and sliding my current stuff to make a new system for my wife.
For the video card I ordered an 8800GTX (just one, not running sli).

Question: Should I use that or keep the 7950gx2 I currently have (both are Asus branded).
(googled for about 3 min, did not see any definite benchmarks for single card vs. single card)

g80 series is a bit more future proof than 7950, ala DX10.  My 8800gts should be here tomorrow,  I went with Evga because of their sweet step up deal.  If within 90 days of purchase you want to upgrade to a better evga card, they will cover the cost of your original card at the time of purchase.

8800GTX for sure. It has more memory than even the 7950 doesn't it, not to mention faster clock speeds.

No and no. Lower clock speeds and less memory (768 compared to 1024). It's still faster though and a better investment. It can handle DX10, it can do AA and HDR at the same time unlike the GX2 and it will have improved physics support for future games. Get the 8800GTX.

7950 GX2.
Even though clearly the 8800 GTX is better, buy the 7950 GX2 because I say so.

http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics. … ;chart=226 benchmarks....is your wife like a hardcore gamer or something  cause I am recommending like 7950gt or 7800gt . The 8800gtx is a nice card
