G'day...

Well i'm getting a new computer, and i'm just wondering what sort of FPS I could pull, and what settings I can run while still getting good FPS.

C2D E6600
ASUS 7950GT 512mb
2x1G Generic DDR2 667 RAM
Maxtor 16M SATA II 320 GB HD
Motherboard: Gigabyte 968P-DS3
650W Shaw PSU.

So yea, what kind of settings could I run...and could I get decent FPS with fraps on?

cheers

you could probably make it on all low with roughly 3-4 FPS on battlefield 2...

depends, b/c i have a $400 7900GTX that can sometimes only pull 80-90 FPS, but usually around 60-70 FPS. A lot of the time, it depends on your ping that you are getting from the server.

i run all High except for dynamic lighting and shadows.

are you kidding, I have a 280 dollar 7900GT KO Superclocked and i usually get 90 FPS, and thats with my old 4600+ x2, I'm getting ready to put in my E6600 and I'm sure I'll be able to squeeze out a couple more, what CPU/Ram do you have?  That'd be kickass if my 7900 gt was up there with the GTX series..

EDIT: thats all high 4xAA plus the 16x Anisotropic AA and 8xS Antialiasing background filtering all at 1600x1200... you my friend have a bottleneck

well, i live in Indiana and there are no good servers near where i live. I can pull 80-90ish FPS on some chicago servers. My internet is pretty crappy for being cable. I have a 4800+ X2 939 and 3 GB of PC3200.

I pull 50 ping or higher on every server i have ever played on. So the value select ram from corsair could be a bottleneck for me, eh?

I also have AA all the way up but run on 1024x768 BF2 res cause anything bigger gets hard to see for me. Anyways, have pity on my poor soul.

The ram is 2x1G Generic DDR2 667 if that helps.
The ping I get is 10-50 on all servers I play...although I don't think that contributes to my FPS

You should be fine and very rarely lag... I would look into brand name ram though, because if you're talking about the "value select" type ram, than it's shit and would be the bottleneck your system..
