Well as we move ahead PCI is taking over AGP motherboards. But how much longer is AGP going to be good. And how much better is PCI

you'll see widespread AGP sales for another 8 to 12 months.

Doh! For some reason I read the title as "ATG Outdated" and hurried in here to see what was going on.

I'd say longer than that. I remember seeing a couple PCI cards the last time I went video card shopping (maybe 1.5 years ago).

that's why I said widespread, if you want and AGP card 5 years from now, you'll find one, but they've peaked with the 7800gs and 1950whatever.  Vista and DX10 will push AGP aside faster than most tech.

So when do the kick ass AGP cards drop to pennies on the dollar?

There are still good agp cards, as the 7800 gs (mine). I think the agp slot will finally die when its best agp card will no longer be good. Next spring/summer, agp will be completely dead imo.

Uhhmmm........they still sell PCI cards.

PCI-e is not yet better than AGP. No AGP card ever exceeded the full 8x bandwidth that it had to offer...so doubling that isn't going to yield higher results until cards can take advantage of that. Now, the 8800GTX might just do that, not sure.
