Alright so I got a gift certificate to best buy and I figure I'll buy a mic. I would prefer to just spend the $25 on the certificate and not go over. I have pretty nice speakers so would I be able to use the mic for voip and have the game still come out of my speakers?

Now, which one to get?

Depends. Are you going to sing to me ingame? I like to have the best quality for singing mics myself.

I'd say get whichever one looks the best to you. There's really no difference in VOIP quality.

using a mic with speakers sucks. get headphones with a mic on em. theres a logitech pair for a about 25 i think, ill get u alink in a bit

USB.

Here's why: If you have speakers with an "out", you'll hook up the green plug for the headset there. (That way you can hear through speakers AND headset) Then you have the pink "mic" plug which you'll have to plug into the back of the computer. Unless your speakers are close enough to your computer for the 'Y' to reach both, you'll only be able to a)listen through headphones only, or b) listen through the speakers only.

Ugh, headsets a lame. Even high end ones break in a few months. Get some decent headphones, and a 2 dollar desk mic. Unless your going to go to lan parties or BYOC competitions.

I have a desktop and it never worked, and yes I tried everything with it.
