Hello i have made a few threads before, but would like to make one final one.

I have a:

Amd athlon 3200+
Nvidia FX 5500
19" LCD
1 gig of RAM (PC3200 200MHZ - Crucial)
512 RAM (PC2700 166MHZ - Samsung)
(Do not know my Mobo but its ASUS, AGP and new i think. Any help as how to figure out what one it is is good)

I have just bought this card

It seems a great card, have i made the right choice?
Will my computer run ok with this card (with my 2 diffrent types of RAM)
Would there be a VAST diffrence in performance by getting an identical 1gig of ram?

Please help guys

Eeh? How can you have 2 types of RAM working at the same time? Well anyway..I think anyway that the PC3200 RAM is actually running at 400MHZ..since my dad also has PC3200 and the PC2700 will be running on somewhat higher too..but if the two types of RAM do work in harmony than you will probably we able to play on medium/high, about the difference, yeah it is going to make a difference..my 7600GT can easily handle high in BF2142 but due to only 1 gig of RAM I'm limited to medium settings since it keeps loading in data..so I'm going to get another gig and that should fix the problem!

Odd running two types, pc3200 is 400mzh, but i suspect his will only runs at at the freq of the lowest ram so its 333mzh for pc2700 (i think).

I would get another GB of the same type, but the card looks like a needed upgrade.
For now you will see a greater benefit form the card over getting the ram stick (but i would still make it a goal)

put it this way you will notice the difference between one and two gigs, but more so if you are running skype/teamspeak/win amp/etc at the same time as BF2

I run teamspeak, and sometimes maybe xfire. I do realise i will notice diffrence.

and a second point, if you are from the UK (as your profile suggests, and your using overclockers) i must point out that http://www.dabs.com/ is usually cheaper including postage, than overclockers. i use both and 95% of things are cheaper on dabs but overclockers have other things dabs dont carry, good luck

Will both ram run in something like dual channel? (dont know what this is, please explain)

Did you bought 2x 512 mb? or just 1 stick of 1 gig? Because 2x 512 is better..about the dual channel.. I think it enable you to use all RAM benches on the same type of RAM..but I am not sure on that

Should i get a pro to do it for me? i want to do it myself (as i would have to wait 2 weeks till the guy can do it) and it would be an experience, but if its difficult and easy to break i dont.

*I read a guide of how to do it, and it seems very stright forward*

Well then I suggest, that you do it yourself. Just be carefull and it should be ok.

But if you remove ram and the card be sure to support the motherboard, since I have heard cases of it breaking pretty easily. That would suck donkyass.

besides, its not like you're doing something major, like a motherboard or processor upgrade.

video card is fairly simple and easy to do, just be confident in yourself, and you'll be building a computer yourself in no time.
