For the casual user Norton is more of a pain in the ass than it's worth.

I had an office full of PC's running Norton when I took over this other technician's contracts.  I was getting calls everyday about not be able to do this, or this isn't working.  Once I took Norton out and switched them to Avast everything worked without issue.

I have less business from them now but they told all their friends so I actually picked up a bunch more contracts.

I've since seen many other Norton Internet Security nightmares and I always advise against using it.  Plain and simple... it sucks.

McAfee has a great firewall but I don't trust their AV, too many false positives.

ZoneAlarm is good but with all the crap they have crammed into it over the years it is becoming too bloated.

AVG and now Avast along with a hardware Firewall has kept me completely safe for many many years now.

AVG is good and it's free. It has caught stuff before when others haven't.
I am using Kaspersky right now though. It's pretty lightweight.
So effing true. I hate Norton/McAfee/Other Big Kahunas for not abiding by this rule. Take this into consideration when choosing a suite, otherwise your turning off AV all the time just so the computer runs smooth enough to play a game, etc.

I have used Avira, AVG, F-Prot and Kaspersky in the past. F-Prot is the lightest, I think the Resident only used 800KB, AVG is 1.2MB atm. Haven't used a recent Kaspersky.

Oh and they all find stuff.
