Let this be a lesson for people who don't work in the service industry, tip anyone who does a service for you while at work. Make it a five spot & you'll get good service all night because they want another $5 from you.
Luggage Carriers get an automatic $10 bill
A waitress is 15% of the bill unless service was bad then you can drop it to 10 or even 5% depending on how bad it was.
Cabbies get a $5
Anyone in a casino gets a $5 unless you hit a jackpot, then make sure & take care of them according to the jackpot, don't be cheap you won the money. Cocktails will love you & get you drunk, the slot attendants will comb your section more often.
So all you people that have never worked in service, be aware of people working for tips & when you do don't be cheap.

Thats all fine & dandy but we had a lady win a million+ here that comes here all the time, she didn't tip us a dime, needless to say she doesn't get any service when she comes in now.
Thats just absurd , I would have laid at least 10 g's between employees, that would have made our year as well.
If they don't deserve it is one thing, but we kissed her ass everyday up until that happened the stupid cheap bitch, bitter? nah.

Kiwis don't generally tip, but service wages are enough to live comfortably on so I guess its not so much of a deal.  I will tip if I get good service tho.

The lady from Mexico is a retard...

Most luggage doesn't travel with you on the same plane.

Most luggage gets to the target destination faster than people do.

we don't do "Tips" in Australia, everyone gets a wage or something...

I was in Thailand on holidays, don't think we tip the guy (Bell Boy) enough, hung himself that night in the lobby.

true story.

I was in Thailand in Feb and was ready for the whole tipping thing.

Only prob was I was a little over generous and everymorning we had Tuk Tuk drivers and all sorts waiting for us outside the lobby.

Whilst we were away however we never tipped in Baht we always tipped in AUSD (usually a fiver which at the time was around 160Baht) I was unaware until later that many Thai nationals traded Aus/International currency on thier blackmarket

I generally tip cab drivers here in Australia and I will usually tip around 15% of a restaraunt bill depending on the meal and service however if i dont feel the person warranted a tip then Im happy to walk out without giving anything.

I think that when it becomes "customary" to tip a person then it takes away from the reason behind the tip.

When travelling in the USA i discovered people expected a tip no matter what service (good or bad) they gave, I see it as more of a reward than a wage supplement personally.

I tip waiting staff in restaraunts, but that's pretty much it. I fully expect taxi drivers to shaft me on change (every single one in America and Canada did, without fail) and so they aren't getting anything extra from me. And they're just driving, they don't generally deserve it unless they're extremely helpful. (And so far only one has been, because he found me a motel room after being kicked out of America in the middle of the night, and then drove me across the border the next day)

And also, most of the service industry has been hidden away behind the scenes so you don't SEE them, let alone have them demanding money.

I feel weird if I don't tip at resturants, because I'm in the age group where a lot of my friends are in the service industry, and I know how much more I make than them.
