umm when I tried installing patch 1.41, the patching failed in the middle, then I had to uninstal BF2, but when I started installing again i keep getting an error that says "Installation failed, you have to start over" or something like that, usually it stops when it reaches C.\...\Battlefield2\support\European Help Files\De\Index_h.gif

can someone help pls, i tried reinstalling 5 times so far

Unistall BF2. Reinstall BF2. Install new patch. Get new patch from a different site. It appears that the patch you may have used was corrupted.  PM me if you need more help.

the problem is i screwed it up, i can uninstall BF2 cuz it keeps closing the setup.exe, plus it wont run at all,

I had an issue like that with BF1942.  Just install it to a different directory.  e.g. instead of installing it at C:/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2   try installing to C:/Program Files/Battlefield 2   It fixed BF1942 when I tried it

the BF2 is still in the registry. it wont let me uninstall, it gives off a message saying " SETUP.EXE needs to close" whenever i tried removing it in the registry in the Add/Remove programs

Then try doing it manually.  Go to Start, then Run, and type regedit.   Look for all BF2 related values and keys and delete them.  If that doesn't work I'm thinking the only other solution is a re-format.

ok uhhh, i typed regedit, how do i know whihc one is the BF2?

start - run - regedit

hkey_local_machine - software - EA - ea games - bf2

or something like that at the end.

delete bf2 folder manually and then the registry entry.

that should do.
