I built my first rig last year and I just recently upgraded it a bit, as of now it's running:
An Asus P5GDC motherboard
Pentium 4, 3.4 with HT
3 gigs of DDR mem (3 sticks of 1 gig)
and an Nvidia 7800 GT
all on a 420 W power supply.

Recently I've been getting a lot of slowdown in games (sometimes down to 6 or 7 FPS in BF1942).
My question is what might be causing these slowdowns, any ideas would be appreciated.

Overheating ? If your comps inside is caked in dust you should clean it out, especially the fans.

The inside temp is usually around 26, 27 degrees (Celsius), but I'll take a look.
