how do i get the next 2 ranks?

Well the other day i just got Promoted to Brigadier General (the rank with a big star on the top and little star under it) and i was wonder how do i get Major General (Big star on top and 2 little stars under it) and Lieutenant General (big star on top and 3 little stars under it)?.

The 2 next ranks are given by DICE
Major General
Lieutenant General

But how I don't know..

I think (not knowing it for sure) that the higher awards are given according to your latest point increase. Your position on the leader board doesn't seem to count at all.

i have heard that it could also be the "playing time" you have done, so if you play a certain amount of hours on that rank you will then be promoted to the next rank i am not sure though
