All i want to do is set middle button 2 to weapon 7 for grenades!!! it let me map it to 4, but it won't let me map it to 7. there's no save button. i set it go back and it's there set as 7. but when i enter a game it sets back to 4!!! then i go back to settings and it's freaking set at 4 again. aghh!!

Go to My Documents / Battlefield2142 / Profiles and there should be a file called, I believe, "controls.con". Edit it with a text editor (notepad, for instance) and somewhere in there should be the reference you're looking for.
after going in and out of games i finally got the button mapped. Then i decieded to map a different one. Same exact thing. after 4 more times of the key resetting itself it finally stuck.
For nades i use the 'f' butten, which i think was for scroll weapons... nah flag that i use the numbers. And f for nades is BLODDY good. Trouble is when i have a bash at bf2 i try using it and it don't work
