Frick, i'd have bought that for my other comp. Throw in a 7600gt agp and my old machine would reach medium high settings. Spending $250-300> spending $2000 just to enjoy computer games.

You realize there are "buy it now" prices on ebay for half that price? Plus, that processor is old as balls. You could've gotten an Athlon 64 + mobo for less than what you paid for that old piece of crap.

Let this be a lesson, children. Always research or you get scammed like a dumbass.
i would have to replace the motherboard, and the new graphics card i just got, not willing to do this at this point. though, if i was using AMD 64, i would've done that.

An Athlon 64 + an AGP motherboard (which would work with your current graphics card) would have costed much less than what you paid for that old piece of junk.

Again, do some research. Also, why did you pay $152 when there are "buy it now" prices for that same CPU set at half that price?

PC parts do NOT go up in value when they get old!!!!

This is the very definition of stupidity.
i guess, i didn't want to replace the motherboard though. also, next upgrade will be a new computer anyways... just outta' curiosity, what are you running at? (not to bash, i'm just curious is to the specs)

Man, I just upgraded to an an athlon 4000 for 80 at newegg.

Matter of fact, I just went over this with psp yesterday. There's a socket 939 board with agp and pci-e for like 67, and you can get a 3200 for 52.

Oh well, an upgrade is an upgrade. Be happy with the somewhat faster speeds.

Just don't expect bf2 to miraculously run smoother and look prettier.

Yeah but every processor does not work on every board ... I think to change his processor, he would need ot change his mobo, ram, and video card to pci-e.

Thats like me saying to you "oh, why did not put an c2d on your board instead?" ... the answer would be "it does work on my board".

I had a 3200 on an a78nx and i ran on high, 30+ fps (effects were down to med, sound was down to med). It will run better than other processor he had for that series.

Thank you mister technical. I wasn't saying he could get that, obviously he can't. I think most of us here at big enough nerds to know you can't put an amd64 chip on a athlon xp board. If you read my next post you'd see that I even told him about a board and chip he could have gotten for cheaper than he paid for his chip. He'd probably even be able to use the ram he currently has. Score!

He's going from a chip that's not great for newer games, to a chip that's slightly better but still not great for newer games. I'm not saying he won't see a difference, just saying it won't be huge. More ram or a better video card, then yeah.

Seriously dude, I checked out the auction. Tell them the chip didn't work and get a refund. Then use the 152 dollars and and head to newegg. Buy this:

$52 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6819103535 - free shipping!

and this:

$67 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813157097 If the ram you have now is 184 pin you are set and don't need more. It's even got a 10 dollar rebate.

119 for the two. Plus shipping. -$10 rebate. + 5 for arctic silver.

cha-ching.

Thanks for the help, should've asked before, but it's done. However, next time it's new computer. My games will run a lot smoother though, i won't get lag anymore. And i'll be able to run it on high quality... My Graphics is X800 GTO AGP (256mb)
