I just got a new 19" widescreen LCD.  Yesterday a pixel went dead (by dead I mean that it is red if the screen isn't white).  I know there are lots of methods and software for fixing this.  Which ones actually work?

Edit: Let me restate.  It's a stuck pixel not a dead one.

true, and about the software and shit, there is nothing to fix it. you cant use software to physically fix hardware.

if its that annoying then trade it in, but every LCD is gonna have dead pixels, its just a matter of placement.

Don't be silly, get the defribulators out!

But seriously, it's red when you have the screen on a white page? That sounds like a polarised problem, and not sure any programs would fix that. ( As its a screen problem ).

How easily would you be able to return it?

No I mean it's white whenever there is white on it but red every other time.

And I got this from Newegg so I could return it but it would be a lot of unwanted hassle.

Try the fixes here:

Usually a monitor can only be returned if there are a certain number of defective pixels. 1 isn't enough though.

Yeah I don't know abou newegg, but our new LCD can get a free screen replacement after 8 dead pixels or so. Maybe it was 80, but that seems too high...

neweggs policy is 8 i think.  i got 1 dead pixel on mine on the bottom right, i cant see it unless the screens showing a black image, then it shows dark, but in games/movies i cant tell its there even if im TRYING to look at it.

Mine's on the right side so it's just an annoyance not a nuisance.  I just wanted to know if there was a proven way to fix it.

A pixel... How annoying can it be? I mean 1 pixel is suck a small amount and its stationary I can even barely see a pixel on my 17inch monitor running 1024X768. Then again it depends if you get irritated easily.

Its like a little spec im not sure what shape they are but something has me thinking they are hexagonal or something like that I beleive its called the honeycomb shape because they tesselate perfectly. Set your monitor to the lowest resolution and you should be able to see them easier.

I know what stuck pixels are but dead pixels confuse me, how can you tell that your monitor has some??
