For personal reasons of convenience, I want to swap the names of my hard drives. I have an HP laptop and it only has one physical hard drive. A bit of it is partitioned off for recovery. Anyway, my (C is my regular memory storage and (D is the recovery.
Question: How do I swap their recognition? (Make C: -> D: and D: -> C

You can't change the drive letter of the system disc (C drive) without some serious tech know-how. Basically it involves editing the registry and then repairing the windows Install to recognize the drive change. It is a PAIN in the ass and I don't recommend it.

Edit:

You can however change any other drives by right clicking on My Computer -> Manage -> Disc Management.

Right click the drive letter you want to change and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths". Be careful though, if you have programs installed that point to the current drive letter they may not run after you change it.

Why do you want to do that? It's the same disk, so there's no performance benefit. If the d: is your recovery drive, it won't have your OS and apps installed properly. You're asking for a world of hurt.

Thanks. Ill try the disk management. I'm doing this because I try to keep the same music and playlist on my PC and laptop. iTunes has a library registry that records any changes you make. So if I change something on one I would just copy that registry and iTunes on the other computer would automatically change. However, since my music on one computer is on C: and the other is on D: it doesn't recognize the path. I know I explained it poorly but I think you get the idea. Thanks again. I'll give it a try.
