1 . Its either overheating

2 . Some sort of scheduled task (virus scan, update etc) running in the back ground

Try running another program that works the video card (another game). If it does the same thing there, you know it's your vid card, if not you know it's BF2.

rightclick desktop> properties > settings > advanced > geforce tab > clocksettings or sometthing like that.
