Well my mate need some help in finding a GFX card that can play out to the max of graphics within his budget.
He has around £300 and is leaning towards a Geforce and hopes to play on high, he can expand to around £350. His spec requires Pci-E.

Can anyone make any suggestions?

whats his spec?
might be best getting a GTS rather than a more expensive GTX if his pci-e system is gonna limit him, a mate of mine has a GTS and he hasnt found a game that makes it twitch on full settings yet.

Both of those would be a great choice and he should be able to play almost any of the newer games on max graphics without a problem. Although, max graphics settings also depend on how much ram he has and what kind of processor he uses.

GTS in the price range^^ no point being dx9 limited if he is spending that much tbh.

Yea but that is only to now, the games get more and more demanding all the time, sooo as much that is needed right now, maybe wont suffice in 6 months time, or less!  Still up to you/him

If you can afford it now, it would be dumb to buy a DX9

Very poor decision. If you get an 8800GTS imported (especially from the US with the weak $) you can get one under budget. You can find them in the UK for about £310-320 if you look hard.

You'd be mad to buy a 7800GS - the GTS wipes the floor with it and has a whole host of extra features (onboard physics, DX10 compatibility, SM4 etc.).
