Hi
I want to Oc my 7600GT a tad and I used to have the little nvidia icon in my task bar (or what ever that is in English) in which I could OC but I can't seem to find it anymore, I can find the nvidia control panel and nvidia desktop something..

google.com

search coolbits

open the folder, double click it

it will add it to the registry

open the nvidia control pannel, and the clock settings tab should be there (only on the classic control pannel methinks)

Well, I don't know how well the 7600GT would overclock, but I got a 6600GT (MSI) and all I can say - forget about overclocking, even 20 MHz more makes my BF2 look like Tetris - fancy colours and amusing angles stuck together wildly...
If you, however, have one case fan directly delivering air to the graphics fan, it might be okey, but usually the manufacturers used to slap out the last bit of perfomance of their cooling system... If the GPU's would overclock so easily, the manufacturers would seel them at higher stock speeds for more money
I still wonder why Intel doesn't do that with their CPUs yet.

Different people can get different results, as does different hardware

I overclocked my old Radeon 9800pro by 25% and it was great...untill we had a heatwave and it fried haha but thats not my fault..

just make sure you dont slam the clocks up...ease them up, i do it 2mhz up each time, and scan for artifacts (ATItraytools will work for that purpose alone on nvidia cards)

I still think, a 6600GT compares better to a 7600GT than a 9800Pro does compare to a 6600GT ;-)

maybe so but i can overclock my 7800GS from 400mhz core to 500 and it doesnt even hit 60c under heavy load...and thats an nvidia card

like i said, different pc hardware setups will perform in different ways

Thing is, not even two of the same card from the same maker will overclock the same. Much less cards from different series.

I can get my 7600GT to 600Mhz core and 800MHz memory. Just start from stock and raise by 5MHz at a time and test, preferably with ATITool or Video Card Stability Test.

K thnx to Greenhoi for giving me the solution and thnx to the rest for giving some personal experience, I know that I onced overclocked my 9800 Pro and for a while it went good but then it became all tetris like and had all these nice rainbow colours, like the handgrenade was like purple

Dont ever overclock an X300  three times faster then it was intended to run at.
