Yeah, the dividing lie has been smashed to pieces. This just goes to show that people are willing to pay a couple thousand more for a similarly spec'ed Mac, just for the brand name and the OS. Oy. The way I see it, both windows and Apple OS's suck, but Linux just seems to hard to get for me. So I'm gonna stick with my PC. Macs are fine computers, but whe it gets down to it, they're expensive, and not any better.Netsfear wrote:

The Mac Pro is a workstation rather than a gaming machine, thus the comparison is inherently flawed.
However,
2 x 3.0Ghz Woodcrest > 1x 2.66Ghz Quad Core (even overclocked to a reasonable degree)
The Mac Pro has FOUR times as much memory as the gaming machine - for a fair comparison, remove that to save $4600!
The FSB of the Mac runs at 1333Mhz vs. 1066Mhz for the gaming PC
As for graphics cards, you compare 4 cards intended to run 8 displays against 2 dedicated gaming cards. The closer comparison might have been the Nvidia Quadro card offered by Apple. Either way, even taking the default Mac card and scrapping it,
$10,828 + 2 graphics cards + sound card + physics card costs less than your 'Beast', and is arguably more capable as well.
