ZIF stands for "Zero Insertion Force", right?
Si all I have to do is just make sure the pins on my CPU are lined up & lay it in the socket, correct?

Basically, yes. It should drop in there. Assuming that you have the locking lever in its upright and vertical position.

Ya that's what it was, I didn't have the lever up so it just sat there & I knew something didn't seem right. +1 for reaffirming it though.

make sure you lined the pins up right.. lol

i just installed my new conroe... first time using a ZIF properly, so when i pulled the locking lever down it sounded like i was cracking the cpu but its all good
