My power went out today

my power went out today, for like 45 minutes. but the weird thing is, when the power went out, the fire alarms started beeping, like they needed batteries.
i have a theory, that if a squirrel got between two transformers, and somehow created a circuit, it might create an electromagnetic pulse, which would make the battery powered smoke alarms beep.

If it created an emp, the would stop working. And the buildup would need to be significant. The alarms going off is probly an emergency mode they switch too on sudden loss of normal power.

EMP = Dead electronics. go look it up.
