OK so I'm asking for some help here and looked through the topics and nothing was close to this question so if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated... thanks...

I'm trying to make an Graphical User Interface in java for a java program and I'm using an applet...right...right

So there are different "windows" in this user interface.  Three to be exact and I want to have buttons that would link to each window...

So I made the buttons...

So I made a mouse clicked method so that when you clicked the button something would happen and wasn't sure what to do after that...

Here's the mouse clicked code:

                            private void jButton8MouseClicked(java.awt.event.MouseEvent evt)
                            {
                                                    // Add your handling code here:
                            }

So I want it to make another applet window open that is a given file name, how do I do that?

On a separate note I couldn't make the applet open to the size I wanted because I couldn't find out where to put the set width and set height variables...

Thanks so much in advance and you guys have allways helped out in the past don't let BF2 die...

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\JApplet_4.java:343: cannot find symbol
symbol  : variable rt
location: class JApplet_4
        Process p = rt.exec("Customer.java") ;
                    ^
1 error

Process completed with exit code 1

that's what I get any other ideas?

just google it and then select google groups. someone will either have the same problem and there will be some answers, or you can post it in the relative google group and someone will no doubt answer your question.

I'm sorry, but you're a second year uni student and you're asking for help here!?!?! Look, just give up now - if you don't know how to answer this type of thing, for yourself, by now, then whatever qualification it is you're studying for will not be worth the paper it's written on!

If you'd have maybe been teaching yourself java programming, as a hobby like, and/or this was a java programming forum, I might cut you more slack.

But, 1) this is Battlefield2 forum and 2) this is for a 2nd year university assignment!

Man, you're in for a shock if you ever manage to graduate with a qualification.

When you get into the world of work, particularly if you have a university qualification behind you, you're going to be expected to be able to a) answer problems like this for yourself and b) to be self-sufficient in taking in new knowledge and educating yourself about new technologies.

I did a degree that covered Software, Electronic, Electrical and Mechanical engineering - my strengths always lay in software, but, even in the first year of my degree, if there was some assignment that I just had no clue about, particularly in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering parts for me, I at least knew how to a) go to the library and/or b) search the internet, to find the answer for myself.

At 27 I've probably been to more libraries and done more searches then you could imagine and the fact that I'm even waisting my time to answer your shitty post shows how pissed I am at you...

How old are you you f...ing cock?

Really why are you wasting my time I don't give a shit what degree you have this isn't about you.

I bet your one of those people that has to make everything about you..., don't you, you wanker...

now piss off to Warlord you shit noob who's wasting everybody's time...

Oh and make a pit stop to pick up a life on the way you prick...

Hey, if you want to act like an immature 16yr old, instead of a mature 27yr old, then go ahead, ignore my advice, that's fine by me.

And it's not like this is difficult stuff you're asking about. Again, if you'd been teaching yourself or this was in a java programming forum, I might have put in the tiny amount of effort it would require for me to dig out my Java programming books and I may have even spent the 5minutes it would have taken to find the answer for you.

Your advice is to quit at the first hurdle (a person who tells you to quit), why would I do that?

Seriously your not helping please don't post unless you've got something constructive to say.

I am being constructive!

You are the one that's quitting at the first hurdle - by taking the easy route of asking on these forums - I'm telling you to push on and find the answer for yourself.

Look, I'm not doing this just to piss you off - learn this one lesson about life and you will go far, don't and you won't.

Oi mate I'm not joking cause your not being constructive and your making me waste time on answering your big egoed comment.

Your enjoying being a prick and it shows you think your better then everyone cause most people don't know about 'pushing on' according to you, and you think your trying to teach a life lesson, but the one your teaching is not the one your preaching so please leave the topic alone if I could delete your comments I would, thanks for your help mate.
