i just replaced my amd64 3000+ for c2d E6300....biiiig difference
i agree the difference of a person playing max with 50fps compared to someone max with 100fps is that the person with the 50fps wasted less money. We can only see about 30fps max.jsnipy wrote:

There's a difference between 184 and 240, you see...
@ cyborg: Not with the card he has,, keep in mind that the eye cant notice the difference between 40fps and 100fps
That applys to things like videos, not games, totally different.The#1Spot wrote:

And good choice Sarge I'm doing the same thing as you, same card too. Which one you ordered? I'm wating for this one.
I got this baby. Should be at my door by tuesday
But rly, will it run anything I throw at it? or will my 1GB ram/64 3000 bottleneck the crap out of it?

depends what you throw at it
Games that are CPU dependant will be crippled (Oblivion raised from 20fps in main city to 30+ with the new c2d cpu..)
but for bf2 it will max out the settings

CPU will be fine, I got a 32bit 3200+ and it gets me in game within the first 5 people every time (thats on 2142), I'd go with 2GB of good quality RAM though, I've got 2GB Corsair XMS, 2ms stuff, was the best they made at the time and well worth the money.
Let me know how it performs when you've got it, throw everything on full and see if it struggles at all.

As long as it'll run quake wars..
Well I'm sure it can run quake wars, but hopefully without me having to make it look like legoland.
but then again saving money now and buying one huge upgrade in the summer will make things better in the end. although Quake Wars + high end PC + 24 hours per day free time = not going outside for 2 months

"Quake Wars + high end PC + 24 hours per day free time + not going outside for 2 months" = You looking like me, I feel for you lol.
It should at minimum hit med settings with a bit of AA to tidy it up a bit, it's not a huge drop from the PCIe 1950s so you could go look at a few of the benchmarks of those and knock off about 5% performance.
Wonder if anyones done a bench of the AGP 1950 vs PCIe 1950 *goes to look* (if anyone's seen one link it ).

Good call on that card Sarge. Thats what I'm saving for right now.
Well, you're either wrong or have very poor eyesight.jsnipy wrote:

That ASRock MB looks interesting - it seems to perform quite badly though. There isn't much difference between DDR and DDR2 performance and they're should be. The benchmarks for the board also look fairly weak.
for the price, its a good mobo to accomodate those who cant afford a full overhaul in one go
True. I wouldn't do it though. A good MB is the foundation for a good PC.Greenboi wrote:
