I too got the Logitech Extreme 3d Pro and my friend from work did also. We were testing it out last night on FuShe Pass and it was a lot of fun. Much easier to use joystick to fly then keyboard/mouse. But I must say using the keyboard/mouse for choppers is still easier then joystick. I guess practice makes perfect. If any of you have any other suggestions for how the buttons setup works best please post.
These are my settings.
Though I think there's some problem, like if I assing Joy button 5 to something, bf2 says it's joy button 4...

Funny I have the same j/s and it has NEVER worked with choppers, just banks to the right...always... any idea ?
I have the Logitech Extreme 3d Pro too and imho it's not really good. My Joystick isn't centered and strafes quite easily to the left all the time. Very hard to attack a target like a helo or APC with the machine gun if you have to correct the flaw in the contruction design.
There are several players on these forums which got the same problem.

you need to set the deadzones thats why, search the forum theres a thread about it
when the joystick starts to do that you just call up logitech support and tell them the issue, and pretend mto go trhough their troubleshooting efforts and then they will finally give up and ship you a new one for free and you won't have to send back the old one.
As of late Ive been flying jets quite a bit, and have been using a K+M.
I got this very joystick yesterday I have no problems with mine working at all, keys or the stick axis - but I find the K+M so much easier to use.
With the joystick I just find it impossible to line up targets, for cannons or bombing runs (and this was on an empty server attempting to bomb the carrier on DV). Its just...strange

I have the same Logitech Extreme 3D Pro also and I've been having the same problem as you. I practiced and practiced in an empty server, but could never line up for targets properly. Then again, I haven't tried the settings which people on here have shared so I might try them and see how I do before completely giving up on J/S.Snake wrote:

Thanks, i found the setting. Do you got any experience with the values?surgeon_bond wrote:

Is a joystick with a twisty handle that much better?
You have to have a joystick with a twist, so turn helos and planesTuataraDude wrote:

Was their whole point with the twist handle for it to be used as the rudder? I tried that at first and it sucked.(T)eflon(S)hadow wrote:

Basically with my set up I still use wasd as my rudder and throttle controls and use the joystick for turning, bombing/gunning(clicker guns, right thumb rest button bombs/missles) ect. Wouldn't hurt to bind the different views to the top 4 buttons either.
My only nuisance is that you can't use the joystick to do the mouse look around view. Least I haven't found a way. Saves my ass all the time in choppers. Oh yeah, and my right arm gets tired after like an hour of flight time.

Get JoyToKey, customize a button to toggle mouselook and set the POV hat to mouse movement. Additionally I have another toggle key that pulls up the com-rose and sets my trigger to the left mouse button so I can spot enemies while flying.Ajax_the_Great1 wrote:

In logitech extreme 3d pro, all buttons are marked to numbers. Like the trigger is 1, and the thumb button is 2. But, when you setup your joystick for BF2, BF2 reduces the number by one. Like if you look at my settings you see that my fire button is 0, when it really is 1 so the trigger. And my alt-fire (bomb) is 1 when it really is 2 (the thumb button). So if you want to setup you joystick like mine, (I have logitech extreme 3d pro) remember that if my settings say 1 you should press button 2, and bf2 will make the same thing to you as what it did to me. So if you set the trigger to fire (trigger is number 1) you will see it as number 0.
It's really crucial to have the settings right, when I had my setting wrong I couldn't even turn properly. Btw I use my joystick only for jet, KB+mouse for helicopter. Test your settings on empty server and practice with your new joystick, as it takes some time to get used to it. Bombing can be hard to learn and learn about it from forums and videos.
Tips for flying: Always keep your throttle at full speed. This is one advantage against KB+mouse pilots, you don't have to press W all the time to be at full speed.
(These apply to KB+mouse pilots too) When you see enemy jet straight in front of you, keep him locked until he releases his flares. When he does that, change to bombing mode so you won't be locked and he won't hear the warning sound. After the flares are gone and you can see him good again, switch to missile mode and lock him and shoot the missiles, this will usually works as he can't use flares because he used them earlier. But when you first lock on him and keep him locked, if he doesn't drop the flares shoot him with missiles because then he has used flares before you got him locked.
Take choppers down with bombing mode on and use the gun. You won't usually be able to take chopper down with missiles because chopper flares reload so fast.

So much effort? Just get really close to him in Bombing Mode, switch to Rockets, spam them without lockon, switch to Bombing Mode again, get 2/4 Points & fly back to base.Hacial wrote:

If you guys are having drifting problems, or an off center aim, try unplugging and replugging it then moving the joystick to all 4 corners.
