I totally disagree, i bought a Dell XPS 1710 last year and i can play whatever game i want in highest settings (played BF2, Quake 4, BF2142, NFSC,...)
so the stuff works!

yes but an top-state-of-teh-art laptop is much more expensive then 1500... good gaming laptops can easily go over $3000

It's not for gaming, it's for school, but if CS:S and WoW are supported, he would apreciate it.

Laptops and laptop parts are more expensive. Maintenance is more of a hassle. And they overheat and drain battery power like a bitch. I recommend going with a more powerful desktop for about half the price as a laptop, and investing a fraction of the savings in a tote bag.

I only recommend laptops as cool word processing toys.

It is for school. Bringing a desktop to school isn't very practical, is it?

Please, if someone would be kind to find a good laptop for under 1500 bucks, it would be greatly apreciated.

I have a fujitsu laptop for about year now and its been great.
The one I have has 1.8m Centrino processor 1gig DDR2 ram and a ATI X700i PCI and that will run bf2/2142 quite will so should run CS and WOW as well. Fujitsu

ehm let me look.. dell makes good laptops.. you should order one there.

make sure where ever your friend is going to order it, that the hardware atleast includes:

Core 2 duo
1 GB of ram
256 MB video memory ( at least an ati: x1300  or nvidea: geforce 7400)
60gb diskspace

Well, in my defense you submitted a mere minute before I did.

Another nod for Dell, then.

Is he using it like in school? No..? Get him a decent Dekstop PC..much less expensive, easier in maintanance and will actually also play those games on high for even like half the price of a gaming laptop..
if he is using it at school..get him a laptop

Ahhhhhhh!!

Avoid Fujitsu like the plague.

I have had two and both have cracked to bits and fell apart .... and I hardly used them!
A friend of mine works on the UK Fujitsu helpdesk and has said never to buy them.....a Fujitsu employee saying his product sucks ass!!!!!

Whatever lappy you get make sure you get a full 3 year warranty.....you will not regret it!!!

Hewlett packard Pavilion dv9000 series is very impressive, for some reason the laptop I have here is the American version.  US power plug, and warranty and such say USA, but hey its not mine, I think it costs like $1000 now for the dv9000t but you know, even if its not exactly a gaming machine, I managed to get bf2 and doom 3 to run tonight on high settings with very nice FPS, bf2 acheived 60 pretty constant.  Would highly recommend and it wont brech the budget, there are better machines out but this thing is great (ours was free 8-).
