So I reformatted, and went to install BF2...and patch...and "patching failed". So I re-install, patching failed. Re-install again, and this time get that lovely MD5 error (the one that basically forces you to re-format to get rid of it).

So....I reformat again. Install BF2...patching failed.


WHAT THE F***!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't even install the POFS anymore?!?!

This game blows beyond belief, I honestly can't believe I still play it. Oh wait, I don't, because I can't install it.....heh.

What site are you downloading the patch from?

Uh, I've had the same patch since it came out and installed it numerous other times. It's not the patch, it's this POFS game that only works "sometimes".

I dunno how it can still be screwed after re-formatting twice. That's about the equivilant of buying a brand new system and having it do this BS....

Download the patch from another source and try again

well try downloading the 1.41 full patch from www.filefront.com or www.fileplanet.com. that fixed a similar problem that someone else was having.

If the patch works, then it wouldn't fail. Just try the suggestions that Silver and I made.

It is not clear to what extent you are cleaning your system before a reinstall ... but, did you delete your Battlefield 2 folder prior to a reinstall?

It worked, finally, after like 3000306 tries.
