I would be a little interested in seeing some ideas on a mercenary style game. (Not to be confused with the existing BF2 Mercenaries Mod). I am not saying this is a great idea, but tossing it around... Something where you get "hired" by certain sides of the military, and as you score high in the games, your "salary" would increase. A drop in performance could mean losing your spot. Have a ranked, ladder style server system. Instead of Clans, have Companies that hire individuals for a set salary. Then these companies could play together at the company's rank, rather than the individual's rank. The company would their money by their employees doing well. Your company could spend this money to outfit their employees with special company-only gear or vehicles, or to hire more employees. The individuals could use their money to "buy" unlocks, vehicles, etc... Their could be an upkeep (or repair) cost associated with the vehicles and or gear also...

So to recap:

I am a newb, I start on the newb server, not making money.
I "rank" enough to get noticed by Side A, who offers me X amount of money to fight for them.
I "rank" enough to get a better offer from Side B.
I "rank" enough to leave the newb server and go to a slightly better server, where Side A has offered me a job.
I am invited to a Company, and join, at a base salary, with bonuses (such as for badges, pins, K/D ratio, etc).
That company is ranked to the 3rd tier server, so I can now play on the 3rd tier servers with company-mates.
Side A on 3rd tier server hires my company to fight for them for a base income (determined by the number of players in the company, stats, etc...)
Progress in the company also ranks the company as a whole.
I spend my money I am paid to buy newer, better gear, OR gear upgrades (I.E. A better scope instead of a whole new sniper rifle).
My company uses its money and buys us all newer, better body armor...
etc etc etc...

What do you think?

I think EA should work on BF2, that game seems to work really well. i think they should make more weapons. How About you can customize you soldier , like hair, voice, body armor i think that would be cool also i think we need more weapons,i know that we have alot but i think more would me better. Also in stead of just being USMC what about being ARMY, i think that would be cool.

thx

Nice i think it stresses teamwork if you put players in charge of a company.

if they made 1942 again with better GFX, made a ranking/awards system and added a few things to it that would be a sick game.

I think thats a good idea, kinda like the Guild concept from WoW. But it stresses Teamplay alot, and would be pretty hard to keep up-and-running.

I expect BF3 to be modern day again, hopefully this time with maybe more weapons and better general functionality, example opening doors, roping down from blackhawks
VERY good idea you got going there. I think a better graphics, better gameplay and more vehicles and armies.
Still with unlocks, but the 2142 unlock system with little unlocks for your actual kit..
E.G you have to unlock the SRAW before you can unlock the P-90/DAO-12.
Must unlock the Defribulator/Medic pack before you unlock the L85A1

Well, the point of the company would really be a way to allow friends of different levels to play together. It would have its benefits, unique to companies of certain levels, but would allow people who would already be in a clan with friends to continue that camaraderie, while also allowing a lot of teamwork. Meanwhile, those players could still play individually if they so choose, or if no company-mates were on...

I just enjoy the teamwork and strategy aspect of the game. If I am on with no one I know, and no one is squadding up, or using VOIP to communicate, there is no worse game than the BF-series. If I can play with my friends, all talking on x-fire, all in the same squad, all attempting the same goal, there is no better game than the BF-series... So my idea allows you to benefit from the teamwork, while not really being punished if you are a lone wolf.

The way I see, DICE fuxored up big time. They went to far into the future. BF2142 should have been the 5th installment, not the fourth. The game we should be playing right now is probably a BF 2042 sort of game. With weapons that resemble shit we have today, and stuff that is on that show Future Weapons. Maybe have it be WW III. DICE are pretty much stuck in a rut now. Their only viable options now are the far future and space battles.

Nah, I don't think they're stuck. They can jump back in time with the game and as long as they make it good then there won't be a problem. I agree with the revamping of the old, original Battlefield games... enhanced maps, uptodate graphics, ranking systems, and some more "extras." Although a very fresh released expansion pack for BF2142 sometime towards the end of this year would also be suitable. I want to see some new maps (More urban that rely on infantry), weapons, game type, vehicles (Real jets), etc. etc.

You look like the dumb one now.  The Roman Empire was around in 200BC.  The start of the Roman Empire was 700's BC.  Maybe you should study your history book a little longer.

the reason this doesnt happen in many games is because of the amount of memery it would require

I wouldnt like it to be more stealth based, just make it easier to be stealthy.  Like better camo

I would like somthing inbetween BF2 and BF2142, as far as in BF2142 goes whenever you get opins. etc. you get extra points i like that idea so maby in bf2 whenever you get a pin you get for example 20 extra pts.. that would be nice and make the game alot more fun!

The Battlefield MMORPG is a cool idea, and closer to what i'd hoped WoW would have been too...
It would take innovation out the WAZZZZZZ because of the whole "respawn" thing....... So, are battles at set times in set places, and carried out exactly as they are now? Would there be random Flags in random places... for instance...

continue down that road to Jalalabad and you find an outpost where you can purchase ammo. One night the USMC's advancing forces take it by seige, only to realize that the MEC has paid the merchants a hefty fee to move their goods... just hours later, the USMC Staging area is blown to shreds, stranding the helpless infantry at this outpost without ammo, vehicles (save a couple dropped buggies), or a place nearby to spawn.

MEC attacks from all sides... destroying the Yanks' shot at domination...

But in Mashtuur, its another story... The USMC has been secretly flying into the mountains surrounding the city, littering the hills with snipers. A well timed artillery strike (significantly longer lasting and bigger than the BF2 one) and an all out aerial assault cripples the MEC stronghold...

BUT WHAT IS THIS?! THE MEC'S SPECIAL FORCES TAKE OVER THE USS ESSEX AND UNITE WITH PLA TO HOLD WAKE?!?!

... imagine the possibilities!
