Well I went and got FSX after it was referred to me by a friend at work. Phyisics and flight dynamics improved of FS9 still not as realistic as i'd like.... But I tested the demo before the actual game from my PC

AMD3800+ X2 64
7600GT OC'd 610/1500
1GB 667DDR 2
SATA2 HDD

I managed to get about 40 FPS give or take on the demo running medium/low

Running medium/high on FSX with autogen turned off but global resolution running high with hardly any traffic I get 20FPS in New York and about 30FPS in other area's. GFX look worse then in FS9 in which I can run full GFX no problems with a good 80FPS with traffic AA and everything maxed. I go on forums I know FSX is a big performance hog it uses over 1GB of memory easy. Someone complained that with a 8800GTX an E6600 and 2GB of low frequency ram that he gets an FPS of around 10-15 in built up area's and around 20-30 in non built up area's. Microsoft is also planning when Vista is released to put out a patch for FSX so it can run on Direct X 10. 8800GTX will look like a pathetic card when this happens probably it will also put to shame the R600. One thing that people should know this is standard for a microsoft flight simulator series game who always pushes PC's to the limit and are probably made for PC's that will be released a year after the game. It has always been like this just FSX is the biggest leap ive seen so far from when I started playing around in flight simulators from when they were just a bunch of lines with little or no colours.

I'd like to see if anyone with a PC here would be able to run the full or the demo on all high GFX with an FPS over 40 in a built up area. Now the demo for some reason doesn't drain as much FPS but I suggest anyone who wants a small challenge should try it. Im not going to force anyone to spend $100 AU just to try a game they wont be interested in.... Its always fun but it must be remembered its a game it hasn't got a lot of the elements real life has and it might give an idea on flight but thats it.

So if you are looking to challenge your PC i'd like to see the results so far its put my (not so great) PC to shame.

Im still happy with my PC though runs HL2 all full on 200fps runs BF2 and 2142 all full GFX with 80 fps but compared to some of the systems people use here I bet you could get a better result then me in FSX.

hey dude - i have the real version (deluxe edition (a brilliant waste of £60 if you ask me)) and i get hardly 20 on all low whereas i could run fs 9 on al high with everything maxed out and get a bout 40 around new york and aboiut 60 upwards anywhere else.

ATM it's gathering dust as i have loads of add ons for fs9

EDIT: it's meant for dx10 anyways, so unless you have a dx10 gfx card it will look crap. BTW you also need vista to actually take advantage of the fact its dx10. Stupid if you ask me again that they releasea  dx10 game when the os isn't even out yet. (apparently it works great with the vista beta

I have FSX Deluxe Edition, my system is a C2D and X1900XT 512MB. All high 1024x768 I hit 60fps. However, loading the new 747 addon with rain and detailed air traffic and air buildings, I got a grand 9 fps.

FANTASTIC GAME! I don't see why you all hate it. You either;

- Can't play a game for 4-5 hours straight.
- You aren't a fan of simulators.
- You get bored very easily.
- You can't cope taking instructions.

- Hate the fact that a game made 3 years ago has better performance.

Uhhhh yeah.

Other then that the missions are great. I was going to fly using FSE but put FS9 on instead too bad all my Carenado aircraft were on that HDD I wiped...
